Stud News - Autumn 2016

Godington Hannibal has been awarded the prestigious UK Elite status due to his outstanding contribution to the breed. This is only the 4th such award in the history of the UK Trakehner Stud Book. The Elite presentation was made by one of the Trakehner Verband Judges, Herr Matthias Werner at the Trakehners UK Annual Show..

Stud News - January 2014

Our youngest approved stallion, Godington Parsifal is now lightly backed and going well under saddle. He will be prepared for his NaStA performance test in 2014, and will also commence his competition career. Parsifal has a lovely temperament and is a joy to work with, so we are excited about his future.

Competition News - Sept/Oct 2013

Trasimeno and Undine were back on the road again later in the month for a trip to Moreton Morell. Both horses put in a good dressage test for identical scores, and both had clear rounds across country, close to the times. BCA on the 1st Oct saw an unlucky 20 across country for Trasimeno, but Undine jumped a beautiful clear round well within the time.

Competition News - September 2013

Back to normality for the competition horses, with an outing to West Wilts for Trasimeno and Undine in the Novice class. Trasimeno put in a smooth performance on the day with a good dressage test and a clear cross country meaning he finished with a placing and his first BE point. Undine was a little tense in the dressage, but put in a good clear XC round.

Trakehners UK Annual Breed Show 2013

Although we did not enter any showing classes this year, we had an extremely good weekend. Amazon passed her mare grading, Toscana completed her performance test, Orinoco achieved Premium Mare status, Uppsala was proclaimed an Elite Mare and then the cherry on the top was our Hannibal son Parsifal passing his stallion approval.

Nasta Performance Test - August 2013

We are proud to annouce that Utah put in an excellent performance and completed the Nasta Performance Test with a Class 1 Elite grade. He received excellent marks including 10s for temperament and rideability, and finished the test with the highest score ever recorded. This means that Utah now has full breeding approval with Trakehners UK.

The 8th of August saw a return to Aston for the 4YO class where Utah completed a sub-30 dressage test and a clear, fast XC but was unfortunately a little distracted in the SJ and rolled a couple of poles. Barcelona also competed in the Intermediate class, where she jumped a nice double clear in fluent form.

A trip to Aston-le-Walls for the Intermediate class for Premium Mare Barcelona on the 19th resulted in a pleasing steady clear around the XC course and a new venue for us, Carlton, saw Trasimeno also go steadily clear in his ON class. He jumped well and took on the very technical course to finish just outside the top ten.

Competition News - July 2013

The 14th of July saw us at Bury Farm Unaffiliated BE90 for another training outing with Utah, who is undergoing the qualification for his Stallion performance test this year. He put in a leading dressage score but was a little distracted in the SJ, knocking a couple of poles. Another bold clear cross country round left us all smiling with his performance.

Breeding News - July 2013

We are pleased to announce that all three of our selected broodmares are in foal for 2014 - PM Prettiness, Tallulah and Uppsala. Prettiness and Uppsala have also both produced spectacular foals this year by our stallion Contis. We are also beginning to prepare our fillies for their Mare grading this year, which will be held at the beginning of September.

Another training outing for Utah, this time to the Unaffiliated BE90 at Crown Farm where he put in a good dressage test and jumped very well over a technical BE90 XC course. Trasimeno put in a good test and jumped well at Upton House on July 10th but had an unlucky pole in the SJ. Stablemate Undine also jumped clear across country.

A trip to Purston Manor on the 29th for Premium Mares Umbria and Barcelona saw both mares showjump well, and an enthusiastic Barcelona also flew around the cross country in her HC training round. Utah had a trip to Quainton Stud for some showjump schooling on July 2nd, where he jumped round the spooky courses very well.

Competition News - June 2013

June saw us at MKEC where Trasimeno and Undine both jumped clear across country again, and Contis' dressage of 29.5 meant that he finished in second place in his class under Ed Eltham. A dressage outing to Aston le Walls with Utah on the 26th was great fun, and Utah showed his potential by winning both of his classes in good company.

A visit to Rockingham Castle saw Undine, Umbria and Barcelona all put in clear rounds across country, and Contis put in a smooth dressage test for a score of 27 in his ON section. Our young stallion Godington Utah went to Aston for the Unaffiliated class, where he performed well in the dressage but an unfortunate spook XC put paid to placings.

Quainton Stud on the 11th saw another outing for the baby horses. Godington Toscana had her first outing under saddle and achieved 63% in her dressage test, and our young stallion Utah continued his excellent development by getting 3rd place in his combined training event with a dressage score of 67.5%.

We took a full house to Aston le Walls on 8th and 10th May, taking the horses up a level for the first time this season to see how they would respond. Contis put in a lovely dressage test for a score of 29.1 and jumped a very smooth SJ round. All three of our Premium mares (Barcelona, Umbria and Undine) jumped clear across country.

We are very pleased to announce the first foal of the 2013 crop has safely arrived - we have another beautiful filly by Hannibal out of Premium Mare Offerte (E.H King Arthur TSF). This filly is a full sister to Premium Mare and Reserve Champion Godington Orinoco, and will make a superb dressage or event prospect.

An outing to Moreton Morrell on May 1st saw another BE100 double clear for Trasimeno to take 4th place and 2/3rds of his Tri-Zone qualification complete. An unlucky pole down in the SJ saw Undine in 8th place in her BE100 section, and a double clear for Contis gave him a 4th place in the ON.

The 27th of April saw us at Withington Manor with Contis and Barcelona for their first outing of 2013. Barcelona was distracted in the dressage but Contis went well for a score of 32. Both horses jumped clear across country, despite the fact that we had not been able to get them out schooling at all before the event.

A visit to MKEC on the 23rd April for his first BE outing of 2013 saw Trasimeno jump a double clear in the BE100 and gain a partial qualification for the Tri-Zone Eventer Challenge at Blenheim. This is a new event for us, and requires that horses complete three double clears at BE100 to qualify for the finals at Blenheim Horse Trials in September.

Umbria, having been ballotted from her planned outing to Withington later in the month, went to Aston le Walls on the 10th April at 2 days notice and with no preparation. We were pleased with her jumping and cross country performance on her first outing this season.

The 6th of April saw another visit to Quainton Stud for the Combined Training. Our young stallion Utah went along to do a dressage test and put in a good performance on his second ever outing. The very consistent gelding Trasimeno was first in his class, beating stablemate Premium Mare Undine into second place this time around.

Our last March outing was a visit to Quainton Stud for some dressage with three of Uppsala's offspring - the two Premium Mares Umbria and Undine, and our young stallion Godington Utah who was on his debut. We were thrilled with Utah's behaviour and the comments from the judge on his very first outing into the big, wide world.

Contis and Barcelona had an outing to Addington for more showjumping on the 19th March, where they each produced another double clear but were just out of the placings. The following day at Solihull saw good performances from Trasimeno, Umbria and Undine, who was placed 3rd in her class.

A trip to Addington for more showjumping this week saw Umbria making good progress with a double clear in a speed class. Our stallion advert was also in Horse and Hound this week, and produced a good deal of interest in all three of our stallions, with a lot of people enquiring about our youngest stallion, Godington Utah.

The first week of March saw an outing to Addington for Trasimeno, Undine and Umbria, who all recorded double clears in their respective classes. Not to be outdone, Contis and Barcelona also jumped double clears at Solihull the following day, with Contis taking 4th place in the Newcomers.

We are pleased to say that our February featured horse, Godington Berenice, has been sold and will be going to a fab new home in Chobham with an aspiring event rider. We wish Julia the best of luck with this talented young mare, and hope to see her out and about on the eventing circuit in 2013 and beyond.

At long last we got out to a local competition at Quainton Stud, where Godington Trasimeno and G. Undine won their combined training classes, and G. Umbria was second to her younger sister. An encouraging start to the season, and we hope to see the youngsters moving up the grades in 2013.

Godington Utah has been backed and is progressing well with his basic schooling. Godington Barcelona, Umbria, Trasimeno and Undine are currently being prepared for the 2013 eventing season, and Godington Berenice (full sister to Barcelona) will also join the eventing string this season unless she is sold.
